Day 14 - Portion Control

Today's Food Diary

Breakfast - Half a punnet of grapes

Dinner - Scrumpy chicken soup and a mini brown roll

Snack - Dairy Milk

Tea - Tomato and brocolli pasta bake

Snack - Bueno

Today could have been quite a good day if I could have stayed away from the chocolate. But on the positive side I have learnt a lot about portion control recently. I was making spaghetti and meat balls a few days ago a decided to actually could the calories as I was putting them on my plate. an to my surprise my normal portion size was over a 1000 calories. The plate bellow was my adjusted version at 633 calories.

Now to me this seemed like a very small portion but after I'd finished I was full without feeling like I was going to burst and the portion was almost half the calories.

Do you think this portion is big enough for you?

Day 10

Well my exercise plan has completely gone out of the window, but I've written exercise of for this week now. Food wise over the last two days I've not been as good as I could have been, but I have a lot going on at the moment and I'm not as organised as I would like to be.

Today's Food Dairy

Breakfast - Toasted tea cake

Dinner - Chicken and cottage cheese salad

Snack - Toasted tea cakes

Tea - I went out for my tea tonight and had scampi chips and salad followed by apple crumble and custard

The next few days aren't set to be good, I'm going to York for a friends birthday on Saturday and that will include lots of alcohol and will probably mean eating out twice.

Day 8

So I have returned from my jolly holidays in Scotland, well not so jolly in terms of following my diet. My long weekend consisted of burger and wedges, curry, fish and chips, sweets and lots and lots of cider. Anyway I'm putting the weekend behind me, if you can't treat yourself when your on holiday when can you?

Today didn't start off as well as it could have done, unfortunately I didn't get up and go to the gym as I couldn't be bothered to organise my stuff last night, but food wise I don't think I've done so bad:

Food Diary

Breakfast - Crunchy nut clusters with semi-skimmed milk and a shape yoghurt

Dinner - Thai green curry

Tea - oven cooked gammon steak with boiled new potatoes and steam fresh vegetables

Drinks - 5 glasses of water, 2 cups of tea and a glass of wine

Tomorrow should be a better day, I plan to get up early and go to the gym and I have also made a lovely low calorie tomato soup for lunch tomorrow.

Day 3

I'm struggling already, these dark mornings are really not helping me with my lack of motivation. This morning was terrible, waking up to a freezing cold house, then looking out of the window to a dark and dreary morning. But I did manage to drag myself to they gym again, and again I felt rubbish, but there was the satisfaction that I got up and did it.

Today's Food Diary

Breakfast - Two slices of toast with low fat peanut butter

Dinner - Left over stir fry from last night

Snack - Mixed fruit salad

Tea - 2 ham sandwiches

Snack - Twix biscuit finger

Gym - 40 mins 300 cals

I have a feeling this weekend is going to be a big down fall, I'm going to Scotland for a long weekend, and from the look of our fridge it's going to be a weekend full of cider. Its going to be as bad as I make it really, there will be loads of nice beaches to walk along, and there's even a gym on the complex for those rainy days. I'm not sure if I will have access to the internet while I'm away, so there may not be another post until Monday.

Day 2

Today has been much better than yesterday (well anything would be better than yesterday). I finally managed to get my fat butt out of bed at 6:30 this morning at get myself back to the gym. I thought I would feel better for going to the gym, to be honest I didn't, I felt like death on legs, but I'm sure (hope) it will get better.

Today's Food Diary

Breakfast - cereal with semi skimmed milk

Snack - Quavers

Dinner - Ham sandwich and a Shape Greek style yoghurt

Snack - Mixed fruit salad

Tea - Turkey and green veg stir fry

Gym Time - 35 mins 300 calories burned

All in all I don't think today was a bad day, it could have been better but I need to ease myself back into it before I do anything drastic like no carbs.

Day 1

Are you one of those people that are never happy with your weight? constantly on a diet? and never sticking to it? well that's me. I'm 5ft 8 and almost 12stone, that makes me technically overweight. I am inviting you all to join me in my journey to reach the "healthy weight" of 10 stone. Please be aware I am terrible at diets so this blog may never end!!!

Today's food diary:

Breakfast - Bacon roll and a large cup of tea

Dinner (can't really call it lunch but...) - Half a bag of Haribo star mix and a cup of tea

Tea - Mini Chicago town pizza with a can of cider (still not full so....) Hungry Joe microwave chilli with wedges and another can of cider

As you can see from the above this is not a good start, but things will change!

My plans for tomorrow: ( please check back tomorrow to see if I actually keep to them)


  • Get up early an go to the gym ( requested wake up call from one of my gym buddies to make sure I actually go)
  • Have a balanced break fast
  • Take dinner to work to avoid take away temptation 
  • Plan tea (Tomato and chicken pasta)
  • Healthy snacks only (in other words no snacks until I've been food shopping)
